Futurism

An early 20th century Italian social and artistic movement focusing namely on technology. Futurism emphasized all things associated with industrial mechanization, such as, speed, youth, violence, as well as specific objects and scenes such as cities, cars, and airplanes. The movement was rooted in a desire to modernize Italy both socially, artistically, and economically, going so far as to claim a loathing for all things associated with tradition. Though slow in developing a specific art style, Futurism devised great use for Cubist and Divisionist techniques, which gave them an analytical and unique approach to composition.
