Constructivism

Developed by the Russian avant-garde around 1915, constructivism was intended to represent modern industrial society. It was austere and geometric in its rejection of decoration. Its style of art had incredible effects on other 20th century art movements such as Bauhaus and De Stijl, and even spread its influence towards graphic and industrial design, theatre, fashion, etc. Constructivism favored art for social and practical purposes and as such greatly was associated with Soviet socialism, creating a great deal of political graphics.
