Thomas Easley’s mastery of the female form is evident in this reclining nude. Painted with smooth and precise strokes of the palette knife in tonal shades of blue, the image initially appears to be of undulating hills. But on closer inspection, a delightful realization unfolds—the hills are the graceful curves of a woman. With minimal lines and cleverly employed negative space, Easley draws attention to the beauty of the figure which has a sense of depth and serenity.
