DIMITRI LIKISSAS (1969)
Greece

“A visual artist, known for his neo-pointillism style of paintings which have the optical effect depending on viewing distance.”

Dimitri Likissas was born and raised in Belgium and has Greek roots. He has been creative his entire life. Around his early 20’s he moved to the Caribbean where his career evolved from being a graphic designer to a corporate director of a media publishing company. During those years he painted on the side, influenced by pop art heroes like Keith Haring (who he met as a teen), Roy Lichtenstein, and Andy Warhol. He eventually left his corporate job and turned into a full-time painter whose creations have discovered their way into numerous private collections worldwide.

Exploring the unlimited potential of the chromatic and tonal scale, visual planes, and volume with a two-dimensional framework, Likissas’s dynamic works of art are an exciting optical experience. His colored dot arrangements transform imagery into abstract/geometric forms.

The dot patterns serve as a reference to living organisms and atoms, i.e. the idea that matter is made up of discrete units where these patterns cohabitate in harmony. For Likissas, these circles keep moving. This technique ultimately transformed into his optical language and style.

Dimitri Likissas’s artwork invites us to view the world as a magical, fluid, and invigorating panorama.
