"Sea lions (Zalophus californianus) at Puerto Egas in James Bay. Santiago Island. The Galápagos sea lion is one of the largest of the archipelago's animals, weighing up to to 550 pounds (250 kilos), although it is still smaller than the sea lions of California, where it originated. This group is resting in the shadow of beautiful rocks formed by piled and compacted volcanic ash; these formations, known as tuff are rather soft and are easily eroded by the wind and sea. Galápagos. Ecuador. January, February and March 2004."
