John Mule
Medium: Digital C-Print on Archival Photographic Paper
Year: 2018
Just because Milo is a mule doesn’t mean he’s not an ass too. It’s OK, friend, we all are sometimes. Mules are the offspring of a male donkey and a female horse—typically taking the wide eyes and long ears from the donkey and the long face and larger build from the horse. Most mules are also completely sterile—around 99 percent, in fact. I loved the way Milo’s ears formed an X with the rest of his body in this image—almost as if to say, “Sorry, ladies, you won’t find what you’re looking for here.”
