Like her name, Bastina was beautiful. A sexy, relatively unknown horse breed from Portugal, the Lusitano carries equal parts power and grace. She posed for the camera with ease and even reared up for us, showing off her long mane and sleek figure. When working with large hooved animals in studio, it’s important they have proper footing, especially when performing moves like rearing up. To safely photograph Bastina, we placed 20 square feet of rubber flooring over the area where she would be standing.
