Ruth was ‘on’ the day I photographed her. Exploring white on white tones is something I’ve always been interested. It can be a challenge for photographers because you can lose detail in the whites easily. But within that challenge is a chance to show a subtle pattern and texture if exposed correctly. Working with Ruth was painless. She was social and literally speaking to us the entire time. Like many birds do, she puffed up her feathers and I captured this single frame where the elements of white create a beautiful shape, texture, and form.
