I don't know about you, but this photo has "The Hateful Eight" vibes written all over it. Quentin Tarantino has been one of my favorite directors in Hollywood for a long time. One of his latest films, The Hateful Eight provided me with a ton of inspiration for this new series of artworks all shot in the harsh conditions of winter throughout Wyoming and Montana. While visiting Skye Clark on her family's ranch, I captured this photo just before sunset. The weathered pole fence covered in the snow immediately caught my attention for this particular image. I wanted the poles to create a balanced composition while I focused on the details in her spurs and fringed leggings. When I saw this image developed and scanned at the film lab, I was so excited with how it turned out. It draws you in and leaves you wondering what happened before and after this image was taken. Was it captured in the late 1800s or in 2022? It has a timeless and authentic feel to it, creating a sense of mystery but leaving you satisfied with the end result.
