Sweat bands form along your hat. Dust covers your face and stains your teeth. It isn't an easy line of work. While visiting the iconic 6666 Ranch in Texas, I captured this photo of a cowboy who waited to flank a calf that one of the other cowboys had just roped. Just moments before this photo was taken, a prior calf kicked his hand, breaking one of his fingers. As I watched him get up from the dirt, he then opened up his toolbox, pulled out some black tape, and began taping his fingers together. As he walked past me and rested his hands behind his back waiting to continue his work, I lifted the camera to my eye to document this moment. A few months later I received a text from Cole with the second image. He was at the dentist's office and had them also X-ray his finger months later after the incident. This is what cowboy'n is all about.
