Thomas Easley is a figurative American painter known for his visually rich palette knife paintings that capture the spirit of motion and energy. Born in 1949 in California, Easley did not acquire a formal education in art. Instead, he studied the works of the artists he admired and taught himself how to paint. He has lived and worked in Europe, Asia, and the United States in a career spanning four decades. Over the years, Easley has had more than a hundred solo exhibitions. His art has been exhibited at the Albert and Victoria Museum in London, Portrait Inc. in New York, and Vassar College. His collectors include the late Diana, Princess of Wales, Arrigo Cipriani of Harry’s Bar and Cipriani Hotels, and Thomas Hoving, former director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Easley is the author of The Figure In Motion, a best-selling visual guide for artists to paint the female form. He works from his studio in New York’s Hudson Valley.
