Jasper in flight is one of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken. You can practically see the green lake below him—mist still on the ground, with dogs poised and ready at your side. The symmetry of Jasper’s position could not have been any more aligned, and the beautiful curvature of his brown-and-blue wings was as close to perfect as Mother Nature gets. We adjusted our lighting to allow for five frames to be shot per second so that Jasper could be photographed in flight. For this portrait, the stars and wings aligned, and I was able to capture him at just the right moment in time.
